Aromatherapy
What is aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy means "treatment using scents". Aromatherapy was used by many of the great ancient civilizations and is reputed to be at least 6,000 years old.
How does it work?
The oils work directly on the chemistry of the body, via the skin and bloodstream. They are added to carrier oils and massaged into the skin, added to a bath, inhaled directly or diffused to scent an entire environment.
Massage
What is massage?
Massage is an art that dates back some 5,000 years. It originated in the Eastern world where it was used widely and much later was brought to the West.
How does it work?
Massage helps release chemicals known as endorphins from the brain, which act as the body’s natural painkillers. These help to counter the sensation of chronic pain and give a feeling of relaxation.
Reflexology
What is reflexology?
Reflexology is a method of treatment using massage to the feet usually, but also the hands sometimes.
How does it work?
In the feet there are reflex areas corresponding to all parts of the body, arranged in such a way as to form a map of the body. By having the whole body represented in the feet, the method offers a means of treating the whole body and of treating the body as a whole.
Magnetic Therapy
What is magnetic therapy?
It is what it literally says, a treatment using magnets. Magnets are incorporated into active items of jewellery. In the case of haematite the stone is naturally magnetic.
How does it work?
The magnetic force regulates the way in which blood cells flow through the body, increases your circulation and enhances the body’s natural healing processes.
